Sharing the rich Katahdin area history with locals and visitors is so important. Make sure to stop and check the interpretive panels along the Katahdin Woods & Waters Scenic Byway! Also, take a moment to visit the local historical societies (in Millinocket, Medway and Patten) and Museums such as the Patten Lumbermen’s Museum.
The interpretive panels were designed by Bonneville Creative of Belfast, Maine. Lead designer Thierry Bonneville partnered closely with the local historical societies, museums and officials as well as MaineDOT to conduct the research, vectorize and optimize photographs, and to write the copy.
